OBJECTIVES

This course equips participants with a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure’s role in South Africa’s socio-economic development and its alignment with national goals. It covers the legislative environment, governance, and PMI® standards for project and risk management. Participants will learn about portfolio and programme management, project initiation, design development, procurement, construction management, and the transition to operations. The course also focuses on long-term asset management, asset condition assessments, and GIAMA compliance. It concludes with a holistic review, structured assessment, and actionable steps for professional application

OUTCOME

By the end of this five-day programme, participants will understand the infrastructure project lifecycle from UAMP to operations and maintenance using FIDPM. They will apply legislative requirements (PFMA, PPPFA, DORA, GIAMA) to real-world projects, develop advanced Risk and Project Management skills per PMI® standards, and use tools like IPMP and IPIP for strategic alignment. Participants will implement sustainable O&M strategies, including building condition assessments and maintenance, demonstrate their knowledge through a summative assessment, and recognize the importance of effective project governance for accountability and transparency. This programme ensures public sector officials are well-equipped to manage infrastructure projects from planning to maintenance.
